Beautiful World’s Environmental Statement
Beautiful World’s goal is to promote products that are designed and manufactured with the planet in mind. Our products are eco-friendly as the items we handle are made from both recycled materials and those that derive from renewable and sustainable resources. We also feature enlightened products, which although they are manufactured with almost 100% eco-friendly ingredients we still provide them as they are kinder to the planet than many other products that currently exist in the market place.
At Beautiful World, we strive for a 100% environmentally friendly product mix. However, manufacturers can create many wonderful products that unfortunately fail to meet our strict criteria on sustainability and environmental issues. We have created a strong bond with the businesses that provide our furniture and many manufacturers are happy to modify their offerings in order to work alongside our goals to take care of our planet. They have come to understand that we are an expanding company that is committed to making great changes and the volume of business we drive to them will further push them to modify their manufacturing processes to allow us to meet our strict goals. We know that with the help and support of our loyal customers we will continue to grow and as we expand, we will work alongside our manufacturers in our quest to do our part to save the planet.
Our goal is to vigorously reduce our consumption of items that harm the planet and provide our customers an alternative choice of products. Everything we purchase and use involves a high level of sustainability and we actively promote tradeoffs to ensure that if a tree is cut down, another is planted. We strive to bring you only the very best in furniture but we put the task of vigorously promoting products that are good for the planet above absolute purity. By refusing to handle harmful good, whatever their appeal and stature, sends the message to manufacturers that there is no market for such products.
Our goal is to blend fashion, style and great prices into all of our product offerings. To ensure we meet our goals to get our products widely used in the mainstream we only offer products which are aesthetically appealing and affordable. We can only continue to make a difference with your understanding and support, and together we can develop the Beautiful World brand to indeed make sure our world stays beautiful. We will continue to strive to make changes to manufacturing processes and to promote the active creation of planet-friendly products to prove to the world that these types of products are in demand and wanted by consumers around the world.
Conscientious Construction
Green is more than just a colour to us - it's part of our philosophy. That is why our construction process is designed to provide superior quality, while actively sustaining our natural habitats.
Wood is the very heart of our business and we do everything possible to support sustainable forestry and the responsible use of this precious resource.
Choosing Our Wood with Care
RECLAIMED TEAK
We use large teak beams that have been reclaimed from old structures like old houses and barns in Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. This ensures that no trees are felled and that the wood is already seasoned. The wood is then milled, sent to either our Java or Chiang Mai factories where we hand-build everything ourselves from start to finish. This process gives each piece a unique character that will last generations to come and is perfect for outdoor furniture in the tropics.
PARAWOOD (RUBBERWOOD)
Parawood is native to the Amazonian region of South America. Information on the wood can be traced back to the famous explorer, Christopher Columbus, as it was during his second visit to South America that he came across a heavy black ball that the natives used in games. This ball was made from the vegetable gum of the parawood tree and in years to come historians would also marvel at the substance, which bounced so much when thrown to the ground it appeared to be alive. In the 19th century, Henry Wickham of England transported some seeds for germination and the resulting seedlings were then taken to the Malay Peninsula for planting; where began the great rubber plantations of Malaysia.
After 25 years of latex production, the tree ceases to produce sufficient quantities of latex for production and. is cut for processing in the manufacture of fine furniture. Most importantly, a new tree is planted in its place. This is a fine example of man’s ability to fully utilise our natural resources, without causing harm to the environment. Considered to be one the most environmentally friendly timbers for furniture construction, it now accounts for over 60% of Thailand’s exported furniture.
INDONESIAN PLANTATION TEAK
Teak is a very hard, closely grained wood that is high in natural oils. All three of these properties help maintain this wood's endurance and if made properly, it will not warp, rot, split or crack. Teak can successfully withstand the test of time, even in the face of a wide array of natural elements, and well made teak furniture will not show signs of aging for years on end.
Indonesian teak is by far the most ecology-friendly type of teak wood to invest in. Indonesia is home to a multitude of teak plantations that are strictly managed by the government to harvest this wood for the sole purpose of manufacturing. In no way does the use of this wood interfere or damage Indonesia's rain forests and unfortunately, other countries home to ardent rain forests cannot claim such altruism. Indonesian teak furniture is also the only teak product that is certified by environmental groups such as Friends of the Earth and the Rain Forest Alliance.
Besides buying the wood from Indonesia, insisting that your furniture is also made there will also ensure that it is made by renowned craftsmen. A significant cost advantage is another good reason to purchase furniture made in Indonesia as labour is cheap and the raw teak export tariff is fairly high. An additional reason to buy teak furniture harvested and created in Indonesia- is that you are helping the country to receive recognition for the responsible use of its resources.
POLYRATTAN OUTDOOR FURNITURE
Synthetic materials are made from high density polyethylene (HDPE) that does not contain PVC. They are environmentally-friendly due to their non-toxic characteristics and recyclability. Products created from synthetic materials are specially designed and engineered for outdoor use, ensuring our furniture will weather the effects of rain, wind and sun for years to come.
